George Desmond De Silva was born at Ceylon, 13 December, 1939, son of (Edmund) Frederick De Silva, MBE (1912-93), by his wife, Esme; married London, 5 Dec, 1987 (div 2010), HRH Princess Katarina of Yugoslavia (b London 28 Nov, 1959), daughter of HRH Prince Tomislav of Yugoslavia (1928-2000), by his first wife Princess Margarita of Baden (b Salem 14 July, 1932, d 15 January, 2013) daughter of Berthold, Margrave of Baden by his wife HRH Princess Theodora of Greece & Denmark (1906-69), a sister of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
