Sir Daniel Alexander Salt, 8th Baronet, died late in 2024 a few months after inheriting the family baronetcy. He was 81.
He was a direct descendant of Sir Titus Salt, the industrialist and philanthropist, and founder of the model village of Saltaire, near Bradford in West Yorkshire, who was created a baronet, 30 October, 1869.
He was born 15 August, 1943, son of John Scarlett Alexander Salt (1905-1947), and his wife the former Olive Mary Shapley (1910-1999); and succeeded to the baronetcy on the death of his kinsman, 12 June, 2024.
He married 26 August, 1968, Mehrchide Emami (died 13 January, 1998), daughter of Dr Ahmed Emami, of Teheran, Iran, by whom he had issue, two daughters, Firoozeh Katherine Salt (born 7 Aug, 1971), and Maryam Rachel Salt (born 6 October, 1974).
The baronetcy now passes to his younger brother, Nicholas John Salt (who was born 7 December, 1945).
