Sir Joseph Gurney Pease, 5th Baronet 1927-2023

 Sir Joseph Pease, 5th Baronet, died 26 December, 2023. He was 96.

The baronet was President of the North-West Regional Liberal Party, 1970-71, and author of A Wealth of Happiness and Many Bitter Trials, published in 1992.

Joseph Gurney Pease was born  16 November, 1927, son of Sir Alfred Edward Pease, 2nd Baronet (1857-1939), and his third wife the former Emily Elizabeth Smith (1897-1979), and was a half-brrother of Sir Edward Pease, 3rd Bt (1880-1963), and brother of Sir Alfred Pease, 4th Bt (1926-2008), and succeeded to the baronetcy, 23 September, 2008.

He married 24 June, 1953, Shelagh Munro Bulman, daughter of Cyril Gounod Bulman (1898-1977), of Great Langdale, Ambleside, and his wife Sarah Jane Armstrong (1897-1983); by whom he had issue, a son, Charles Edward Gurney Pease (born 17 July, 1955), and a daughter, Jane Elizabeth Gurney Pease (born 15 June, 1957). The baronetcy (created UK, 1882), now passes to his only son.
