Christopher William Kerr Devas, who died 4 December, 2023, aged 79, was a scion of that landed gentry family.
He was born 26 July, 1944, son of Group Capt William George Devas, CBE, DFC, AFC, RAF (1912-2001), and his wife the former Monica Mary Cecil Kerr (1917-2009), scion of the Marquesses of Lothian, descended from the 6th Marquis; and married 1stly, 9 May, 1970 (div 1983) the Hon Penelope Ann O'Neill (born 15 April, 1947), daughter of the life peer the Baron O'Neill of The Maine (1914-1990), sometime Prime Minister of Northern Ireland, and his wife the former Katherine Jean Whitaker (1915-2008), scion of the Whitaker baronets; married 2ndly, 1 June, 1994, asher second husband, Mrs Veronica Susan Phayre-Mudge (born 6 Oct, 1944), scion of the Earls of Eldon, daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel Eric Surtees Scott, MBE (1912-2005), and his wife the former Rose Anne Stewart (1915-1994), scion of the Earls of Galloway.
He leaves a son from his 1st marriage, William Thomas Devas (born 1975).
