Stuart Wyndham Murray Threipland 1947-2023

 Stuart Wyndham  'Tertius' Murray Threipland, who died 12 June, 2023, aged 76, was a scion of that landed gentry family, of Shadwell Park. His home for 25 years was at Dunbeath Castle, Caithness.

He died on the same day that property agents Savills announced Mr Murray Threipland's estate and 13-bedroom castle at Dunbeath had gone on the market with offers over £25 million being sought. 

He was born 7 June, 1947, a son of Major Patrick Wyndham Murray Threipland (1904-1957), and his wife the former Margaret Eleanor McNair Scott (1913-1970), scion of that landed gentry family; and married firstly, 10 October, 1972 (div) the socialite Belinda Mary (Min) Musker (1942-2019), former wife of John Aspinall (1926-2000), and daughter of Major Anthony Musker (died 1959), and his wife the Hon Mary Angela FitzRoy (1919-1984), scion of the Viscounts Daventry, a granddaughter of Edward FitzRoy, Speaker of the House of Commons during the Second World War. The FitzRoys descend from the Dukes of Grafton, illegitimate descendants of the Stuart King Charles II.

Stuart Murray Threipland married 2ndly, in 1984, Claire Rose Pelly (born 18 November, 1943), former wife of the 17th Earl of Pembroke & Montgomery (1939-2003), of Wilton House, Salisbury, and daughter of Douglas Gurney Pelly (1910-2001), scion of the Pelly baronets, and his wife the former Monica Tate (1912-2000), scion of the Tate baronets.

He leaves issue from his first marriage, sons Alexander (born 17 Aug 1972), and Robert (born 1 July, 1978), and a daughter, Alice (twin with her brother Alexander). 

His son Alexander married in 2001, Lady Sophia Herbert, daughter of the 17th Earl of Pembroke and Montgomery. His daughter Alice married in 2003, Hugo Smith-Bingham, scion of that landed gentry family. 

His step-son is the 18th Earl of Pembroke & Montgomery (born 18 May, 1978)
