Jonathan Lawrence Compton died 18 January, 2023, aged 69.
He was born in 1953, son of Alfred John Alwyne Compton (1918-2015), and his wife the former Diana Slocock (born 1922); and married 28 November, 1981, Caroline Mary Close-Smith (born 17 March, 1954), descended from the Lords Kinloss, daughter of Henry Temple Close-Smith (1918-2011), scion of that landed gentry family, and his wife the former Cicely Margaret Hill (1924-2014), descended from the Viscounts Powerscourt, by whom he had issue, a son, Edmund (born 1990), and two daughters, Emily (born 1984), and Rosalind (born 1986).
