The 3rd Viscount Marchwood 1936-2022

 The 3rd Viscount Marchwood died 3 October, 2022. He was 86.

David George Staveley Penny was born 22 May, 1936, son of the 2nd Viscount Marchwood [1912-1979], and his wife the former Pamela Colton-Fox [1910-1979].

He succeeded his father, 6 April, 1979, as a baronet [cr 1933], and as Baron Marchwood [cr 1937], and as the 3rd Viscount Marchwood [cr 1945]. He served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Horse Guards [The Blues] 1955-57; was with Schweppes from 1958 and held various positions with the Cadbury Schweppes Group; later Chairman and Managing Director of Moët Hennessy, &c.

He married firstly, 26 September, 1964, Tessa Jane Norris [who died 18 Aug, 1997], daughter of Wilfred Francis Norris, of Glebe Park, Lurgashall, nr. Midhurst, co. Sussex; married 2ndly, 13 Dec, 2001, Mrs Sylva Kathleen Willis Fleming, widow of Peter Willis Fleming, scion of that landed gentry family, and daughter of George Edward Resalic Bastin.

Lord Marchwood leaves issue from his first marriage, three sons, the Hon Peter George Worsley Penny [born 8 Oct, 1965], the Hon Nicholas Mark Staveley Penny [born 17 Dec, 1967], and the Hon Edward James Frederick Penny [born 26 June, 1970]. The eldest son now succeeds to the viscountcy, the barony and the baronetcy.
