Sir Edward Evans-Lombe 1937-2022

 Sir Edward Evans-Lombe, a former High Court judge, and head of that landed gentry family, died 20 May, 2022. He was 85.

Edward Evans-Lombe was Called to the Bar by The Inner Temple in 1963 and took silk 1978. He was appointed as a High Court judge in 1993 and as a member of the Competition Appeal Tribunal in 2004. He retired as a judge in 2008. He was elected a Governing Bencher of the Inn of the Inner Temple in 1985.  He was knighted in 1993.

He was born 10 Apr, 1937, son of Vice-Admiral Sir Edward Malcolm Evans-Lombe, KCB [1901-74], and his wife the former Diana Vivien Katharine Mackeson [1905-87]; and married 2 Apr, 1964, Frances Marilyn Mackenzie, daughter of Robert Ewen Mackenzie, of Minster Yard, Lincoln, by whom he had a son and three daughters. The son, Nicholas [born in 1966], succeeds as head of the landed gentry family,
