Jack Dromey 1948-2022

 Jack Dromey, who died 7 January, 2022, aged 73, was a Labour Party politician and trade unionist who was Deputy General Secretary of Unite from 2003 to 2010 and Member of Parliament (MP) for Birmingham Erdington from 2010 to his sudden death from heart failure. He married 1982, the Rt Hon Harriet Ruth Harman, QC, MP [born 30 July 1950], Labour MP for Camberwell and Peckham since 1982, descended from the Chamberlain landed gentry family, daughter of Dr John Bishop Harman [1907-1994], and his wife the former Anna Charlotte Malcolm Spicer, by whom he had issue, two sons and a daughter.

Harrier Harman, 'Mother of the House of Commons' the longest sitting female MP is niece of Elizabeth Harman [the writer Elizabeth Longford] [died 2002], the Countess of Longford, wife of the 7th Earl of Longford, KG, PC [1905-2001]. Ms Harman is descended from the Chamberlains, a great-great-niece of Joseph Chamberlain [1836-1914], and thus a kinswoman of the Rt Hon Sir Austen Chamberlain, KG [1863-1937], and the Rt Hon Neville Chamberlain [1869-1940], Prime Minister 1937-1940.
