The engagement was announced 6 November, 2021, between Jack Frederick David Mendelssohn [born 19 Dec, 1989], son of Martin Charles Mendelssohn [born 1958], and his wife the former Emma Joanne Williams, and Olivia Margaret Rose Hay [born 1990], daughter of Andrew Nicholas John Hay [born 10 October, 1951], and his wife the former Virginia Jane [Ginny] Coats [born 27 August, 1954], scion of the Coats Barons Glentanar.
Olivia Hay is a granddaughter of the late Sir (Alan) Philip Hay, KCVO, by his wife the former Lady Margaret Katharine Seymour, Woman of the Bedchamber to HM The Queen 1953-75, scion of the Marquesses of Hertford (Peerage, GB, cr 1795), sister of the 7th Marquess, &c.
