Christopher John Spence died 13 September, 2021, aged 84.
He was born in 1937, son of Brigadier Ian Fleming Morris Spence, OBE, MC, TD [who died in 1966], and his wife the former Ruth Peacock. He married firsly, 29 September, 1960, as her first husband, Merle Aurelia Ropner [born 12 Oct, 1939], scion of the Ropner baronets, daughter of Sir Leonard Ropner, 1st Baronet [1895-1977], and his wife the former Esme Robertson [died 1996]; and married 2ndly, 1970, Susan Morley, daughter of Brigadier Michael Frederick Morley, MBE [1911-90], and his wife the former Primrose Elizabeth Gordon [1912-1997]. His second wife is a sister of Miranda, Duchess of Beaufort.
He leaves issue from his first marriage, a daughter, Miranda Jane [born 6 Jan, 1963], and was predeceased by a son, Jeremy [1964-82].
