Sir Leslie Marr, 2nd Baronet 1922-2021

 _.Sir Leslie Marr, 2nd Baronet, who died in May, 2021, aged 98, was a racing driver and landscape artist. He was a baronet for 88 years.

Sir Leslie participated in two Formula One World Championship Grands Prix, making his debut on 17 July 1954 at the British Grand Prix.Racing in his private Connaught, he finished in 13th place, but retired from his last world championship race in 1955, after a damaged brake pipe caused him to spin off. Marr competed in several non-Championship races, with his best results including winning the 1955 Cornwall MRC Formula 1 Race and finishing fourth in the 1956 New Zealand Grand Prix.

He was born 14 August, 1922, the son of Lieutenant-Col John Lynn Marr [1877-1931], and his wife the former Amelia Rachel Thompson [1884-1971], and he succeeded to the baronetcy on the death of his grandfather, Sir James Marr, 1st Baronet [1854-1932], which occurred 24 Nov, 1932. 

He married 1stly, in 1948 [div 1956] Dinora Delores Mendelson; married 2ndly, in 1962 [div 2000], Lynn Heneage, daughter of Michael William Walker Heneage; and married 3rdly, 2002, Maureen Dormer. He leaves a daughter from his first marriage, and two daughters from his second marriage.

The baronetcy now passes to a cousin, Allan James William Marr [born 1965].
