_. Timothy Cyprian George Thomas Elwes, scion of the Elwes landed gentry family, of Roxby, has died aged 85.
He was born 26 July, 1935, the fourth son of Lt-Col. Simon Edmund Vincent Paul Elwes, ARA, the artist [1902-75], and his wife the former Hon Gloria Ellinor Rodd [1901-75], daughter of the 1st Baron Rennell, PC, GCB, CMG [1858-1941].
He married firstly, 2 Oct, 1959 [div 1979] Lorna Lyle [born 28 June, 1939], scion of the Lyle baronets, daughter of Capt Ian Archibald de Hoghton Lyle [1909-42], The Black Watch, killed at El Alamein, by his wife the former Hon Lydia Yarde-Buller [1917-2006], later Duchess of Bedford, second wife of the 13th Duke [1917-2002]; married 2ndly, 1976, Mrs Leila Frances Corbett [nee Wolsten-Croft].
He leaves issue from his first marriage, two sons, Ian and Gavin, and twin daughters, Lydia and Amanda.
