Sir Jeremiah Le Roy Harman 1930-2021

 _. Sir Jeremiah Le Roy Harman, Kt, a Justice of the High Court, Chancery Division, 1982-98, died 7 March, 2021, aged 90.

He was born 13 Apr, 1930, son of the Rt Hon Sir Charles Eustace Harman, PC [1894-1970], a Lord Justice of Appeal, and was educated at Eton College.

He served in the Coldstream Guards and the Parachute Regiment 1948-51; Parachute Regiment [TA] 1951-55; Called to the Bar at Lincoln's Inn, 1954, Bencher 1977, Treasurer 2000; QC 1968; Called to the Hong Kong Bar, 1978; Singapore Bar 1980;  Member of the Bar Council 1963-67; Director, Dunford & Elliott Ltd 1972-79, &c.

He was knighted in 1982.

Jeremiah Harman married firstly, 15 September, 1960 [div 1986], Erica Jane Bridgeman [born 20 Apr, 1934], scion of the Viscounts Bridgeman, eldest daughter of the Hon Sir Maurice Bridgeman, KBE [1904-80], and his wife the former Diana Mary Erica Wilson [d 1979]; married 2ndly, 1987, Mrs Katharine Frances Goddard Pulay [1939-2002], widow of George Pulay, and daughter of the Rt Hon Sir Eric Leopold Otho Sachs [1898-1979], and his wife the former Hon Janet Margaret Goddard [1909-2005], daughter of the Baron Goddard [1877-1971], sometime Lord Chief Justice of England, &c.

Jeremiah Harman leaves three children from his first marriage, two sons, Charles and Toby and a daughter, Sarah.
