 _. The life peerage awarded to Dame Nemat Shafik, DBE, in Boris Johnson's Dissolution Honours list has been gazetted in the name, style and title of Baroness Shafik, of Camden in the London Borough of Canden and of Alexandria in the Arab Republic of Egypt, 30 September, 2020.

Nemat Talaat Shafik, Baroness Shafik DBE, (born 13 August 1962), known as Minouche Shafik, is an Egyptian-born British-American economist who served as the Deputy Governor of the Bank of England from August 2014 to February 2017 and has served as the Director of the London School of Economics since September 2017.

Born in Alexandria, Egypt, Shafik studied at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and the London School of Economics before receiving her doctorate from St Antony's College, Oxford. Shafik served as the Permanent Secretary of the Department for International Development from March 2008 to March 2011, when she went on to serve as the Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund.
