The engagement was announced 11 September, 2020, between Hugh Alexander Vere Nicoll [born 1985], a member of that landed gentry family, son of Lieutenant-Colonel Ian Alexander Vere Nicoll [born 1952], by his late wife the former Meriel Joanna Wormald [1955-2011], of that landed family, and Isabella Alice Graham [born 1993], daughter of Lieutenant-General Sir Andrew John Noble, CB, CBE, 5th Baronet [born 1956], by his wife the former Susan Mary Bridget O'Riordan.
Hugh's ancestor the Rev Richard Nicoll, Prebendary of Wells, and Chaplain-in-Ordinary to King George III, married in 1767, Vere Wykeham, descended from the Barons Saye & Sele.
