Marcia Elizabeth Wakeham [nee Lane Fox] 1940-2020

 _. Marcia Elizabeth Wakeham, who died 26 August, 2020, aged 79, was a scion of the landed gentry family of Lane Fox, of Bramham Park, Wetherby, West Yorkshire.

She was born Marcia Elizabeth Lane Fox, 19 September, 1940, the only daughter of Lt-Col Francis Gordon Ward Lane Fox [formerly Ward Jackson] [1899-1989], by his wife the Hon Marcia Agnes Mary Lane Fox [1904-80], eldest daughter of the 1st [and last] Baron Bingley [1870-1947], by his wife the former Hon Mary Agnes Emily Wood [1877-1962], sister of the 1st Earl of Halifax, KG [1881-1959].

Marcia's father assumed the surname of Lane Fox in lieu of Jackson by Deed Poll in 1937, and was granted by Royal Licence, in 1947, to continue to bear the arms of Fox. Her mother succeeded to the Bramham Park estate on her father's death, 11 Dec, 1947.

Marcia had two elder brothers, Maj George Francis Lane Fox [1931-2012], who succeeded to the Bramham Park estate, and Richard Lane Fox [1933-2014].

She married 12 October, 1963, Anthony Charles Wakeham, son of Maj Charles Eric Wakeham, of Durban, South Africa, by whom she had issue, sons William [born 1966], Richard [born 1968], and a daughter, Charlotte Elizabeth [born 1971]. 

Her home was a Wothersome, Wetherby, West Yorkshire.
