_. [John] Stuart Wheeler, wo died 23 July, 2020, aged 85, was the millionaire founder of IG Index, and a record breaking Conservative party donor. With his great wealth he bought Chilham Castle, Kent.
He was born 30 January, 1935, the adopted son of Capt Alexander Hamilton [Alec] Wheeler, MC [1880-1942], and Betty Lydia Gibbons [1906-1990], daughter of Sir Alexander Doran Gibbons, 7th Baronet [1873-1956]; married 1979, Teresa [Tessa] Anne Codrington [1944-2016], scion of the Codrington baronets, by whom he had three daughters, [1] Sarah Rose [born 1980], [2] Jacquetta Lydia [born 1981], wife of James Allsopp, scion of the Barons Hindlip; [3] Charlotte Mary [born 1985].
