The engagement was announced 18 March, 2020, between Jack William Bartholemew [born 1989], descended from the viscounts Long, son of William Wadworth Bartholemew [born 1956], of Shalbourne, Wiltshire, by his wife the former Carolyn Judith W. Pride [born 1961], and Rosanne Eleanor [Rosie] Riall [born 1992], daughter of Thomas Richard Phineas [Tom] Riall [born 1960], of Ufton Nervet, Berkshire, by his wife the former Mary Elizabeth Benyon [born 1965].
Jack Bartholemew is a grandson of Major John Cairns Bartholemew [1920-2016], by his wife the Hon Noreen Long [1921-2004], daughter of the 3rd Viscount Long [1892-1967].
Jack is a godson of Diana, Princess of Wales. His mother, Carolyn, was a friend and flatmate of the then Lady Diana Spencer in her Coleherne Court days. The Prince and Princess of Wales attended Carolyn's marriage, in September, 1982, to William Bartholemew.
Jack Bartholemew's maternal grandfather was Barry Wedlock Pride [1929-2018], who married, as his first wife, Sally Judith de Pass [born 1934].
Rosie Riall's maternal grandfather was Sir William Richard Benyon [1930-2014]. Her great-grandfather, Vice-Admiral Richard Benyon, CB, CBE [1892-1968], married Eve Alice Gascoyne-Cecil [1900-94], a great-granddaughter of the 3rd Marquess of Salisbury, &c.
