_. Lieut-Col. Charles John Holroyd, late the Royal Green Jackets, who died 27 February, 2020, aged 86, was a grandson of the 4th Earl Cairns.
He was born in 1933, son of Major Charles Ivor Patrick Holroyd [1900-1976], by his wife the former Lady Sheila Mary Cairns [1905-2000], daughter of the 4th Earl Cairns [1865-1946].
He married 18 January, 1969, Amanda Jane Glyn [born 24 Nov, 1940], scion of the Glyn baronets, daughter of Colonel Sir Richard Hamilton Glyn, Bt [1907-1980], by his wife the former Lyndsay Mary Baker [died 1971], and had issue, two sons, Charles and George, and a daughter, Joanna.
A Service of Thanksgiving takes place at St Nicholas' Church, Chute, 20 April, 2020.
