_. Alan Williams Horton, died at Hanover, New Hampshire, United States, 24 February, 2020, aged 98.
He was born 31 July, 1921, at Middletown, CT, son of Douglas Horton by his wife the former Carol Williams; married 17 January, 1951, Dorothy Joan Ryder [1921-2010], scion of the Earls of Harrowby, daughter of Major Henry Dudley Ryder [1894-1958], by his wife the former Dorothy Marion Streatfeild [1894-1979], scion of that landed gentry family, and a second cousin of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.
Alan Horton's mother-in-law was a daughter of Sidney Streatfeild [1859-1924], who was a son of Marion Henrietta Smith [1835-97], whose sister, Frances Dora [1833-1922], was Countess of Strathmore & Kinghorne, wife of the 13th Earl, and grandmother of Queen Elizabeth [1900-2002].
Alan Horton leaves issue, a daughter Carol, and two sons, James and Edward.
