_. The Baron Chalfont, OBE, MC, PC, died 10 January, 2020, aged 100.
Alun Arthur Gwynne Jones was born 5 December, 1919. Created a life peer as Baron Chalfont in 1964 he served in the administration of Harold Wilson as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, 1964-68. He was the senior extant life peer from 2003.
