Sir Timothy Kitson 1931-2019

_. Sir Timothy Kitson, who died 18 May, 2019, aged 88, was Conservative MP for Richmond, North Yorkshire 1959-83, and was Parliamentary Private Secretary to Edward Heath, as Prime Minister 1970-74, and as Leader of the Opposition 1974-75.

Timothy Peter Geoffrey Kitson was born 28 January, 1931, the son of Geoffrey and Kathleen Kitson, and was educated at Charterhouse and the Royal Agricultural College Cirencester.

Elected MP for Richmond in 1959, he was an Opposition Whip 1967-70. Kitson was knighted in 1974.

He married in 1959, Diana Mary Fattorini, daughter of Edward William Fattorini, by his wife the former Edith Hannah Rhodes, and by her he had one son and two daughters.
