_. Michael Anson, who died 5 May, 2019, on his 82nd birthday, was a scion of the Earls of Lichfield, and a Page of Honour to King George VI and to Queen Elizabeth II.
He was born 5 May, 1937, son of Major Hugo Edward Anson [1908-91], by his wife the former Elizabeth Campbell [who died 1997], daughter of Capt Sir Harold Campbell, KCVO [1888-1969], private secretary to the Duke of York [afterwards King George VI] 1933-36, Deputy Comptroller and Equerry, 1936; Extra Equerry to Queen Elizabeth II 1954-69, Groom of the Robes to George VI, 1937-52, and to the Queen 1952-54.
His paternal grandfather, the Hon Claud Anson [1864-1947] married Lady Clodagh Beresford [1879-1957], daughter of the 5th Marquess of Waterford; and his great-grandfather was the 2nd Earl of Lichfield [1825-92].
Michael Anson served as a Page of Honour to King George VI, 1950-52, and to Queen Elizabeth II, 1952-53.
He married 10 Aug 1963, Claire Elizabeth Seymour Morris, daughter of Lieut-Col Frederick Arthur Morris, by whom he had issue, three daughters, Alexandra, Josephine and Catherine.
A Service of Thanksgiving will be held at the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Northleach, 23 May, 2019.
