Joseph Heathcoat Amory (born 2014)

Thierry Heathcoat Amory (nee Kelaart), wife of Patrick Thomas Heathcoat Amory, scion of the baronets of that name, gave birth to a son, Joseph, born in 2014.

Patrick Thomas Heathcoat Amory, is the third son of Sir Ian Heathcoat Amory, 6th Baronet (cr UK, 1874), of Tiverton, Devon, by his wife the former Frances Louise Pomeroy, scion of the Viscounts Harberton.

Thierry Heathcoat Amory is a daughter of the late Paul Kelaart and Mrs Anne Kelaart, of Nettlebed, Oxon. Thierry is a close friend of HRH The Duchess of Cambridge, and at her nuptials in 2012 she was given in marriage by the duchess's father, Michael Middleton.

Isabelle C. Colville (nee Winkler), wife since 2013 of the Hon Edmund Carleton Colville [b 14 Jul 1978], gave birth to a daughter, Cosima Calliope, in 2014, a sister for Maya Calypso, who was born in 2012.

Edmund is a son of the late 4th Viscount Colville of Culross, QC, by his 2nd wife, the former Margaret Birgitta Norton.

Isabelle is a daughter of Dr & Mrs Joachim Winkler, of Zurich.

_. The 3rd Baron Mountevans (Peerage of the UK, cr 1945), died 21 December, 2014. He was 71.

Edward Patrick Broke Andvord Evans was born 1 Feb, 1943, son of the 2nd Baron Mountevans (1918-74), by his wife the former Deirdre Grace O'Connell (d 16 Sept, 1997), and succeeded to the peerage on the death of his father, 12 Dec, 1974.

Lord Mountevans marrieds 20 Jul, 1974, Johanna Maria Keyzer, dau of Antonius Franciscus Keyzer, of The Hague, Netherlands. No issue.

He is succeeded in the title by his younger brother, the Hon Jeffrey Richard de Corban Evans, who was born 13 May, 1948.

Hon Isla Astrid Florence Wrottesley (b 2014)

_. The Baroness Wrottesley, wife of the 6th Baron Wrottesley (born 10 Aug, 1968), gave birth to a daughter, the Hon Isla Astrid Florence Wrottesley, in Zurich, 16 Dec, 2014, a sister for the Hon Victor, the Hon Magnus, and the Hon Luca.

3rd Baron Bicester 1932-2014

_. The 3rd Baron Bicester (Peerage of the UK, cr 1938), died 11 December, 2014, aged 82.

Angus Edward Vivian Smith, 3rd holder of the peerage, was born 20 Feb 1932, second son of Lt-Col the Hon Stephen Edward Vivian Smith (1903-52), by his 1st wife the former Eleanor Hewitt, and succeeded to the barony on the demise of his uncle, the 2nd Baron, 15 Jan, 1968.

Lord Bicester was unmarried. The peerage now devolves upon his younger brother, the Hon Hugh Charles Vivian Smith, who was born 8 Nov, 1934.

The funeral takes place at York Minster, 8 January, 2015.

descendant of Queen Victoria, via the German Emperor William II); and  a great-grandson for the 8th Duke of Wellington, KG, LVO, OBE, MC, DL (b 2 Jul 1915).
The Countess of Mornington is a descendant paternally of the Barons Beaverbrook and descended maternally from the Hodge Bts.

She was the former Lady Barbara Maureen Montagu-Stuart-Wortley-Mackenzie, born 26 Aug, 1921, third daughter of the 3rd Earl of Wharncliffe (1892-1953), of Wortley Hall.,near Sheffield, by his wife the former Lady Maud Lillian Elfrida Mary Wentworth-Fitzwilliam, scion of the Earls Fitzwilliam (ext 1979), eldest dau of the 7th Earl Fitzwilliam, KCVO, DSO.

Lady Barbara's brother, the 4th Earl of Wharncliffe died in 1987 when his peerages passed to a distant cousin in the United States.

She married 23 June, 1943, David Cecil Ricardo, only son of Maj Louis Ferdinand Ricardo, by whom she had issue, two sons, Dorrien and Richard.

She was Ilsa Jill Barstz, daughter of Emil Ernst Barstz, of Zurich, and married Maj Chandos-Pole, 19 March, 1947. She had two children, son Peter Sacheverell, born 21 Feb, died 22 Feb, 1949, and a daughter, (Margaret) Anne, born 20 Nov, 1952. She is survived by her daughter, Annie, and two grandchildren, Edward and Charlie. The funeral takes place at St Andrew's Church, Radbourne, Derbys, 7 January, 2015.

Elizabeth Ann Baroness Kennet (d 2014)

_. Elizabeth Ann Baroness Kennet, who died 30 November, 2014., aged 91, was the widow of Wayland Hilton Young, 2nd Baron Kennet (1923-2009) (Peerage of the UK, cr 1935).

She was the former Elizabeth Ann Adams, daughter of Capt Bryan Fullerton Adams, DSO, RN, of Hacheston, Suffolk, and married the then Wayland Young in 1948. Her husband succeeded to the peerage in 1960, and died 7 May, 2009.

Lady Kennet leaves issue, a son, William Aldus Thoby Young, 3rd Baron Kennet, and five daughters.

The Baroness Soulsby of Swaffham Priory, who died 30 November, 2014, was the wife of the life peer (Ernest Jackson) Lawson Soulsby, Baron Soulsby {b 23 Jun, 1926}, and step-mother of John & Katrina Soulsby. Her husband, an academic, was professor of Animal Pathology, University of Cambridge, 1978-93, created a life peer as Baron Soulsby of Swaffham Priory, of Swaffham Priory, co Cambridge, in 1990.

She was the former (Georgina Elizabeth) Annette Williams, daughter of John Whitmore Williams, of Cambridge, and married Lord Soulsby in 1962.

Lady Juliet Margaret Townsend, DCVO 1941-2014

_. The Lady Juliet Margaret Townsend, DCVO, who died 29 November, 2014, aged 73, was a scion of the extinct Earls of Birkenhead (Ext 1985), and served as Lady-in-Waiting to HRH The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, 1965-71, and later as Extra Lady-in-Waiting until HRH's death in 2002.

She was the former Lady Juliet Smith, born 9 Sept, 1941, a granddaughter of F.E. Smith, 1st Earl of Birkenhead; daughter of the 2nd Earl of Birkenhead (1907-75), by his wife the former Hon Sheila Berry, scion of the Viscounts Camrose, and a Lady-in-Waiting to Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent.

Lady Juliet married 1970, John Richard Townsend, by whom she had issue, three daughters, Eleanor, Alice and Margaret.

A Memorial Service is to take place at All Saints', Northampton.

Romana McEwen (died 2014)

_. Romana McEwen (nee von Hofmannsthal), who died 23 Nov, 2014, was the widow of  Roderick (Rory) McEwen (1932-82), scion of the McEwen baronets (Bt, UK, cr 1953). She was born circa 1935, a daughter of Raimund von Hofmannsthal by his 1st wife the forner Ava Alice Muriel Astor (1902-56), and married Rory McEwen, 15 Apr, 1958, by whom she had issue, a son, Adam, and three daughters, Flora, Samantha and Christabel. The youngest daughter was first wife of the Earl of Durham and is now the wife of musician/TV presenter Jools Holland.

The (14th) Lady Herries of Terregles 1938-2014

_. The Lady Herries of Terregles, who died 23 November, 2014, aged 76, was the fourteenth holder of the Lordship in the Peerage of Scotland (Lordship, Scot, cr 1490), and was widow of the cricketer Colin Cowdrey.

She was born Lady Anne Elizabeth Fitzalan Howard, 12 June., 1938, eldest of the four daughters of Bernard Marmaduke Fitzalan Howard, 16th Duke of Norfolk (and 13th Lord Herries), KG, GCVO, GBE 1908-75, by his wife Lavinia Duchess of Norfolk, LG (nee Strutt) d 10 Dec, 1995, scion of the Barons Belper.

She succeeded to her father's Lordship of Herries of Terregles on his demise, 31 January, 1975; and married in Sept, 1985, as his second wife, the England Test cricketer, Colin Cowdrey, CBE (afterwards a life peer as Baron Cowdrey of Tonbridge, 1932-2000).

Lady Herries is succeeded in the Lordship by her next sister, the Lady Mary Katherine Mumford, DCVO, (b 14 Aug 1940), a widow, long~serving Lady~in~Waiting to HRH Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy.

Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart y Silva, the Duchess of Alba 1926-2014

Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart y Silva, the Duchess of Alba, has died at the age of 88 in Seville.
The holder of 14 Grandezas de España titles, the highest rank in Spanish nobility, she was the head of the House of Alba and a well-known society figure.  She was 18th Duchess of Alba de Tormes, Duchess of Berwick (the Dukedom recognized by the Crown of Spain is descendable through female lines, though the original Jacobite dukedom was not); was born at Madrid, 28 mAR, 1926;  married 1stly at Seville, 12 Oct 1948, Pedro Luis Martinez de Irujo (1919-72); married 2ndly, 2 Mar, 1978, Jesus Aguirre Ortiz de Zarate (1934-2001); married 3rdly, 5 Oct, 2011, Alfonso Diez Carabantes (born 15 Nov, 1950). She leaves six children, (1) Carlos, b 1949; (2) Alfonso (b 1950); (3) Jacobo (b 1954); (4) Fernando, b 1959; (5) Cayetano, b 1963, and (6) Eugenia, b 1968.

She was born Caroline Victoria Wood, 10 Sept, 1937, eldest daughter of the 2nd Earl of Halifax (1912-80), of Garrowby, North Yorkshire, by his wife the former Ruth Alice Hannah Mary Primrose (d 1989), scion of the Earls of Rosebery (Earl, Scotland cr 1703); she married 1stly, 29 April, 1958, Randle Joseph Feidlen (div 1970), descended from the Viscounts Hampden, son of Maj-Gen Sir Guy Feilden, KCVO, CB, CBE, DL, by whom she had issue; married 2nd, 1970, as his second wife, John Valentine Gosling (1913-2007), scion of that landed family. She was widowed, 1 Feb, 2007.

Lady Caroline leaves a son, Randle Feidlen, and a daughter, Fiona Bryant. A daughter, Virginia, predeceased her in 1994. Her brother, Peter, is 3rd Earl of Halifax.

_. Sir William Stratford Dugdale, CBE, MC, DL, 2nd Baronet, who died 13 November, 2014, was a Warwickshire landowner, sometime Chairman of the Nat Water Council, and uncle of the Prime Minister, David Cameron.

He was born 29 Mar, 1922, son of Sir William Francis Dugdale, 1st Bt (1872-1965), by his wife the former Margaret Gilmour (d 1965), dau of Sir Robert Gordon Gilmour, 1st Baronet; succeeded to his father's baronetcy (created 1936) 18 Apr, 1965; married  1st 1952 Lady Belinda PLEYDELL-BOUVERIE (d 1961) d of 7th Earl of RADNOR and had a son and 3 daus. He married 2nd 1967 Cecilia Mary (b 1931) d of Sir William Malcolm MOUNT 2nd Bt TD (1904-93, grandfather of Prime Minister David CAMERON) and had a further son and a dau. He is succeeeded  in the baronetcy by his eldest son, William Matthew Stratford Dugdale, who was born 22 Feb, 1959.

Baroness Marples (d 2014)

The Baroness Marples, who died 1 November, 2014, aged 95, was the widow of the life peer the Baron Marples, PC (1907-78), who as Ernest Marples, PC, MP, was Conservative MP for Wallasey, and served as Minister of Transport; she was the former Ruth Alianore Dobson, dau of F.W. Dobson, of Nottingham, and married Marples in 1956, as his second wife. She was widowed in 1978. No issue of the union.

Funeral 21 Nov, followed by burial at Kensal Greem Cemetery.

The Lady Auriel Rosemary Malet Vaughan (known as Oriel Malet), who died 14 October, 2014, aged 91, was a gifted novelist, Bohemian, scion of the Earls of Lisburne (Ear, Ire, cr 1776).

She was born 20 January, 1923, third and youngest daughter of the 7th Earl of Lisburne (1892-1965), by his first wife, the former Maria Isabel Regina Aspasia de Bittencourt (who d 1944); 

She was unm.

_. Olivia Marianne Cavan-Lambart, who died at her home, 31 October, 2014, aged 89, was a scion of the Earls of Cavan (Earl, Ire, cr 1647), and was a half~sister of the 13th Earl of Cavan.

She was born 22 Oct, 1925, as Olive Lambart, daughter of Frederick Cavan Lambart 1902-63, by his first wife the former Adelaide Constance Butler; she later abandoned the Christian name of Olive; married 27 Dec, 1950 (divorced 1970), Ernest Ephraim Corrett, by whom she had issue, two sons, Paul and Graham.

The 4th Viscount Samuel 1925-2014

_. The 4th Viscount Samuel (Peerage of the UK cr 1937), died 7 November, 2014, at Westport, Connecticult, aged 89, having enjoyed his possession of the peerage for just one month.

Lord Samuel, a verteran of the Second World War, who served in the fledgling Israeli armed forces in 1948, was a senior executive in the Royal/Dutch Shell Group for over 30 years. He succeeded to the peerage on the death of his elder brother, who was 92, on 7 Oct, 2014.

Dan Judah Samuel was born 25 March, 1925, younger son of the 2nd Viscount Samuel, CMG (1898-1978), by his wife the former Hadassah Goor (d 1986); married 1stly, 1957 (div 1977) Nonni Esther Gordon, dau of Max Gordon, by whom he had issue; married 2ndly, 1981 (div 1992) Heather Cumming, daughter of Angus Cumming, by whom he had further issue.

The Viscountcy now passes to the only son of his first marriage, the Hon Jonathan Herbert Samuel, who was born 17 Dec, 1965.

Dowager Baroness Hayter, MBE 1919-2014

_. The Dowager Baroness Hayter, MBE, who died 31 October, 2014, aged 95, was the widow of the 3rd Baron Hayter, KCVO, CBE (1911-2003).

She was the former Elizabeth Anne Rumbold, scion of the Rumbold baronets (Bt, cr 1779), & was born 25 Sept, 1919,daughgter of Thomas Arthur Rumbold; by his wife Rosemary Hazel Hampshire, and married the then George Charles Hayter Chubb, in 1940. Her husband succeeded as 3rd Baron his father's death, 3 March, 1967, and died 2 Sept, 2003.

Lady Hayter is survived by three sons, George, John and Charles and by a daughter, Sarah. The eldest son, George William Michael Chubb, b 9 Oct, 1943, is the fourth Baron Hayter.

The Duchess of Montrose, wife of the 8th Duke

_. Her Grace the Duchess of Montrose, wife of the 8th Duke of Montrose, died 29 October, 2014.

She was the former Catherine Elizabeth MacDonnel Young, daughter of Capt Norman Andrew Thompson Young, Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada, of Ottawa, and married the then James Graham, Marquess of Montrose, in 1970.

Her husband succeeded his father as 8th Duke in 1992. The Dukedom in the Peerage of Scotland was created in 1707.

The Duchess is survived by her husband and by her sons, the Marquess of Montrose, and Lord Ronald Graham, and a daughter, Lady Hermione.

Funeral to be at Dryman Church on Wednesday 5 November, 2014, followed by family burial at Buchanan Chuchyard.

The bride is a half-sister of Iain McQuiston, husband of Lord Weymouth's aunt, Lady Silvy Cerne Thynne.

He was born 3 May, 1936, son of Sir George Vere Francis Lacon, 7th Bt (1909-1980), by his 1st wife the former Hilary Blanche Scott; succeeded to the baronetcy on the death of his father, 1980; married 7 Sept, 1963, Gillian, only dau of Jack Henry Middlemitch, by whom he had issue, a son Edmund Richard Vere, and a daughter, Anna Kathryn (b 1965).

His son, who was born 2 Oct, 1967, inherits the baronetcy.

_ Prof The 3rd Viscount Samuel, OBE, died 7 October, 2014. He was 92.

David Herbert Samuel was born 8 Jul 1922, son of the 2nd Viscount (1898-1978), by his wife the former Hadassah Goor (d 1986), dau of Judah Goor, of Tel-Aviv, Israel, and succeeded his father, 14 Nov, 1978.

David Samuel was Professor of Physical Chemistry, Weizmann Institute of Science.

He was married four times ~ firstly, 5 May 1950  (div. 1957) Esther Berelowitz, 2nd dau. of Jacob Berelowitz, of Cape Town, South Africa; married 2ndly, 14 Dec 1960 (div. 1979) Rinna Dafni (former wife of Reuben Dafni), dau. of Meir Grossman, of Herzliyah, Israel; married 3rdly; Jun 1980 (div. 1993) Veronika Grimm (former wife of Robert Grimm), dau. of Ernest Engelhardt, of Toronto, Canada; married 4thly, 8 Jul 1997 Eve Black, dau. of David Black, of San Francisco, California, USA.

Lord Samuel, Israel's only viscount, leaves two daughters, the. Hon Judith Samuel (b. 29 Jan 1951), from the first marriage, mar. 1987 Dr Daniel Daliot, of Tel Aviv, Israel, and has issue; and the  Hon Naomi Rachel Samuel (b. 27 May 1962), from the second marriage, who mar. 1992 Nir Wilf, of Haifa, Israel.

Dowager Viscountess Hanworth 1918-2014

_. (Isolda) Rosamond Pollock, Dowager Viscountess Hanworth, widow of the 2nd Viscount, died 13 October, 2014. She was 97.

She was born Isolda Rosamond Parker, 26 June, 1918 (?), scion of the Earls of Macclesfield (Peerage of GB, cr 1721), second daughter of Geoffrey Parker (1880-1954), by his wife the former Isolda Mabel Cecil Craufurd, dau of Sir Charles Craufurd, 4th Baronet; and married 27 Apr, 1940, David Bertram Pollock, 2nd Viscount Hanworth 1916-96 (Peerage of the UK, cr 1936); she served WW2 ad a Snr Cmdr, ATS; was widowed 31 Aug, 1996, etc.

Viscountess Hanworth leaves issue, a son and a daughter, and was predeceased by another son. Her only surv son, is the 3rd Viscount Hanworth (b  16 Feb, 1946).

The 11th Duke of Marlborough 1926-2014

. His Grace the Duke of Marlborough, 11th duke in the Peerage of England (cr 1702), died 16 October, 2014. He was 88.

John George Henry Vanderbilt (Sunny) Spencer-Churchill was born  13 Apr, 1926, elder son of the 10th Duke (1897-1972), by his wife the former Alexandra Mary Hilda Cadogan (1900-61), and succeeded to the Marlborough peerages and the Blenheim Palace estate, Oxfordshire, on his father's demise, 11 March, 1972.

The Duke of Marlborough was four times wed. His first marriage, 1951 (div 1960) was to Susan Mary Hornby (who died 2005). He married 2ndly, 1961 (div 1971), Athina Mary Onassis, former wife of Aristotle Onassis, and dau of Stavros Livanos; married 3rdly, 1972 (div 2008) Countess Dagmar Rosita Astri Libertas Douglas (b 1943); married 4thly, 2008, Mrs Lily Mahtani.

The duke is survived by his fourth wife and two children from the first marriage, Lady Henrietta Spencer-Churchill (b 1958), and Charles James, styled Marquess of Blandford (b 24 Nov, 1955), and by two children, Lord Edward (b 1974) and Lady Alexandra Spencer-Churchill (b 1977), from his third union.

The dukedom and numerous subsidiary peerages now devolve upon the duke's eldest surviving son, the Marquess of Blandford.

3rd Viscount Allenby 1931-2014

_.The Viscount Allenby, who died 3 October, 2014, aged 83, was 3rd Viscount (Peerage of the UK, cr 1919), who sat as a hereditary crossbench peer in the House of Lords.


Michael Jaffray Hynman Allenby was born 20 May, 1931, only son of the 2nd Viscount Allenby (1903-84), by his first wife the former Gertrude Mary Lethbridge Champneys (who d 1988), and succeeded his father in the family honours, 17 July, 1984.

Lord Allenby married 29 Jul 1965, Sara Margaret (b 1942) d of Lt-Col Peter Milner WIGGIN (1907-94), scion of the Bts of that name, and Margaret Frances LIVINGSTONE-LEARMOUTH (1914-99) scion of that gentry family formerly of Parkhall, and had issue, a son, the Hon Henry Jaffray Hynman ALLENBY (b 29 Jul 1968), who married, 1996 Louise Victoria d of Michael GREEN of Sands Farm, Faringdon, Oxforshire, and has issue, two sons. 

Service of Thanksgiving on 12th November, 2014, at All Saints Church, Odiham.
