Mary Alice Olga Sophia Jane Scrivener 1919-2014

_. Mary Alice Olga Sophia Jane Scrivener, who died 20 September, 2014, aged 95, was descended from the Royal House, the last surviving great-granddaughter of Prince George, 2nd Duke of Cambridge.

She was born in London, 4 June, 1919, a daughter of Robert Charlton Lane (1873-1943), by his wife the former Olga Mary Adelaide Fitzgeorge (1877-1928), who was a daughter of the Duke of Cambridge's illegitimate son, Sir Adolphus Fitzgeorge (1846-1922).

She married firstly, 1939 (div 1961) Edward Christopher Hohler (1917-97) s of Lt-Col Arthur Preston HOHLER DSO (1887-1919), sometime head of that gentry family of Long Crendon, and Laline Annette (1888-1969 , later Mrs Stanley Barry) d of William Harvey ASTELL (1860-96), sometime head of that gentry of Woodbury & Everton, and Hon Elizabeth Maria VEREKER (c1875-1958) d of 4th Viscount GORT, and had 2 sons and 2 daus. She married 2ndly 1962 Robert Stratford Scrivener (1919-2001) s of Sir Patrick Stratford SCRIVENER KCMG (1897-1966) and Margaret d of Walter DORLING.

Mrs Scrivener was the mother of four, Olga, Philippa, Frederick and Robert, grandmother of 13, great-grandmother of 13. Funeral (family flowers only) at St. Etheldreda’s, Fulham on Tuesday 7 October, 2014.
