Baroness Thomson of Monifieth (d 2014)

_. The Baroness Thomson of Monifieth, who died 22 Aug, 2014, aged 88, was the widow of George Morgan Thomson, a Labour Cabinet minister who became a Liberal Democrat spokesman in the House of Lords (life peer). 

She was Grace Jenkins, daughter of Cunningham Jenkins, of Glasgow, and married George Thomson (b 16 Jan 1921) in 1948. Her husband was Lab MP for E Dundee, 1952-72, Minister of State and the Foreign Office under Harold Wilson; Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, 1966-67, and again 1969-70, Sec of State for Commonwealth Affairs, 1967-68, Minister without portfolio, 1968-69; PC (1966); cr a lifer as Baron Thomson of Monifieth, 1977; appointed a Knight of the Order of the Thistle (1981); he died 3 Oct, 2008.

Lady Thomson leaves 2 daughters, Caroline and Ailsa.
