The 28th Baron Dacre 1952-2014

_.The Baron Dacre, who  died 8 May, 2014, aged 61, was the 28th holder of the peerage created by writ of  summons in 1321.

Lord Dacre, who lived near Alresford, Hampshire, was a son of the playwright William Douglas-Home, and a nephew of the Prime Minister, Sir Alec Douglas-Home.

He was born 16 May, 1952, only son of the Hon William Douglas-Home (1912-92), by his wife the former Hon Rachel Leila Brand (1929-2012), a peeress in  her own right as 27th Baroness Dacre.

He succeeded to the barony on his mother's death, 25 Dec 2012.

He married in 1979, Christine Stephenson (d 18 May, 2008), dau of William Stephenson, of Royston, Hertfordshire, by whom he had an only child, a daughter, Emily Douglas-Home, who was born 7 Feb, 1983, and now inherits the ancient peerage.

A Thanksgiving Service for Lord Dacre's life took place at East Meon,Hants, 20 May.
