14th Earl of Loudoun (1942-2012)

_The 14th Earl of Loudoun (Peerage of Scotland, cr 1633), died 30 June, 2012, at Jerilderie, New South Wales, Australia. He was 69.

He was born Michael Edward Lord (surname later changed to Abney-Hastings), 22 July, 1942, the son of Capt Walter Strickland Lord by his wife the then Lady Barbara Huddleston Abney-Hastings, elldest daughter of Edith, suo jure (12th) Countess of Loudoun (1883-1960).

His mother succeeded, 24 Feb 1960, as 13th holder of the earldom, and to the Lordships of Campbell of Loudoun (Peerage of Scotland, cr 1601), and Tarrinzean and Mauchline (Peerage of Scotland cr 1633), and he was styled Lord Mauchline until he succeeded to the family honours on the death of his mother, 1 Nov, 2002.

He married in 1969, Noeline Margaret McCormick, by whom he had issue, two sons and two daughters. The peerages now devolve upon his elder son, Simon Michael Abney-Hastings, styled Lord Mauchline, who was born in 1974.
