10th Earl of Mayo 1929-2006

The Earl of Mayo, who died at his home in France, 22 September, 2006, aged 77, was the 10th holder of the earldom (Peerage of Ireland, 1785).
Terence Patrick Bourke was born 26 August, 1929, son of the Hon Bryan Longley Bourke (d. 1961, 3rd son of the 8th Earl) by his wife Violet, and was educated at St Aubyns, Rottingdean; Royal Naval College Dartmouth.
Career:-> Lieutenant RN 1952; Fleet Air Arm 1952; served in the Suez Campaign 1956; Solo Aerobatic Displays Farnborough 1957; invalided 1959; Member, Gosport Borough Council, 1961-64; President, Gosport Chamber of Trade, 1962; Gov. Gosport Secondary Schools, 1963-64; Managing Director, Irish Marble Ltd, Galway 1965-82; succeeded to the earldom and Barony of Naas (1766) and Viscountcy of Mayo (1781), on the death of his uncle, 1962.
Married 1stly 1952 (div 1987, & she d. 1992), Margaret Jane Robinson Harrison, by whom he had three sons, Charles, Patrick & Harry; married 2ndly, 1987, Sally Anne, daughter of F.G. Matthews, by whom he had one son, Jem.
The peerages now devolve upon his eldest son, Charles Diarmuidh John Bourke, styled Lord Naas, b. 11 June, 1953.
The funeral takes place 29 September, 2006, at Mondebat.--
