4th Viscount Mersey (1934-2006)

The 4th Viscount Mersey, film director, died at his home, 5 August, 2006. He was 72 and had been suffering from cancer. Richard Maurice Clive Bigham was b. 8 July 1934, son of the 3rd Viscount, by his wife the (12th) Lady Nairne, a peeress in her own right; and was educated at
Eton & Balliol. He served in the Irish Guards, 1952-54. He succeeded to the Viscountcy (UK 1916) on the demise of his father, 2
Aug 1979, and succeeded his mother as 13th Lord Nairne (Scotland, 1681), 20 Oct 1995. The peerages now devolve upon his Lordship's son, Edward John Hallam Bigham, Master of Nairne, b. 23 May 1966.
