Sir Hugh Cavendish Smith-Marriott, 11th Baronet 1925-2013
_.Sir Hugh Cavendish Smith-Marriott, 11th Baronet (Bt, GB, cr 1774), died 19 July, 2013. He was 88.
He was born 22 March, 1925, son of Sir Ralph George Cavendish Smith-Marriott, 10th Baronet (1900-87 ) by his 1st wife, the former Phyllis Elizabeth Kemp (d 1932), dau of Richard Kemp, sometime Gov of HM Prison, Bristol. Succeeded to the baronetcy on his father's demise, 1987. Married 1953, Pauline Anne (d 1985), only dau of Frank Fawcett Holt, of Abbotsway, Bristol, by whom he had issue, a daughter, Julie Anne, b 1958. He is succeeded by his brother, Peter Francis, who was b 14 Feb 1927.
Memorial Service at Holy Trinity Church, Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol, 19 Aug.

Lt-Col Peter Orlando Ronald Bridgeman 1933-2013
_.Lt-Col. Peter Orlando Ronald Bridgeman, who died 25 July, 2013, at Fallodon, Northumberland, aged 80, was a scion of the Earls of Bradford (Earl, UK, cr 1815).
His home was at Fallodon Hall, near Alnwick. He was born 9 May, 1933, the son of Colonel the Hon Henry George Orlando Bridgeman, DSO, MC (1882-1972), by his wife the former Joan Constable-Maxwell (d 1991), scion of the Lord Herries of Terregles (Lordship, Scotland, 1490). He was educated at Ampleforth.
Lieutenant-Col, Royal Northumberland Fusiliers (TA); married 1967, Sarajane, dau of Patrick Corbett, by whom he had issue, a son, Mark, and two daughters, Emma and Davina.
The funeral takes place at St Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Alnwick, Monday 5 Aug.

Juanita Virginia Sistare Carberry 1925-2013
_.Juanita Virginia Sistare CARBERRY, who died at Clapham, London, 27 July, 2013, from cancer,aged 88, was a daughter of John Evans-Freke (later Carbery) 10th Baron Carbery (1892-1970) (Peerage of Ireland, cr 1715), by his second wife the former Maia Ivy Anderson (d 1928), daughter of Alfred Anderson, of Nairobi, Kenya.
Miss Carberry (who did not use her courtesy title) was twice married, and childless. According to the Daily Mail there will be no funeral. In the days before her demise she was visited by the German anatomist Gunther von Hagens ~ the much criticised so-called Dr Death who exhibits human corpses.

He was born 8 July 1921, son of Col Edward William Sturgis BALFOUR CVO DSO OBE MC JP DL (1884-1955), 9th of Balbirnie, Fife, of that Scots gentry family, and Lady Ruth BALFOUR CBE (d 1967) d of 2nd Earl of BALFOUR PC (1853-1945), a cadet branch of this family, and Lady Elizabeth Edith LYTTON (1867-1942) d of 1st Earl of LYTTON GCB GCSI CIE PC (1831-1891).
He married 1stly 1948 (div 1967) Lady Griselda Davina Roberta OGILVY (1924-1977) d of 7th Earl of AIRLIE KT GCVO MC (1893-1968) and had 2 sons and a dau. He married 2ndly, 1968 Diana Rosemary (b 1936 reg Q4 Essex) d of Charles George Gordon WAINMAN (1907-88) and Patience Violet (1911-2002, d of Maj Joshua Lister INGHAM JP (1874-1963), sometime head of that gentry family formerly of Blake Hall, and his former wife Violet Warburton WARBURTON-LEE (1888-1960, later Mrs Christopher Leyland, the gentry family formerly of Haggerston), scion of that gentry family of Broad Oak), and had a further son and dau.
Funeral at Humble Kirk on Saturday 27 July, 2013.

He married in 1960 his 1st cousin Alice Fiona (b 1941) d of Maj Edward Copleston RADCLIFFE (1898-1967), scion of that gentry family formerly of Warleigh, and Mona Ruth DE LA RUE (d 1974, d of Sir Evelyn de la Rue 2nd Bt aforementioned), and had 2 sons and a dau.
He was briefly (1962-64) equerry to HRH The Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester.

Maj George Edward Villiers, who died 18 July, 2013, aged 81, was a scion of the Earls of Clarendon (Earl, cr 1776).
He was born 23 Aug 1931, son of Algernon Edward Villiers by his wife the former Annie Augusta Merewether Massy, and was educated at Wellington and Brasenose Coll, Oxford.
He married 25 Aug 1962, Anne Virginia Threlfall, by whom he had issue, 2 sons, Edward and Henry, and one daughter, Theresa.
His daughter is the Conservative MP for Chipping Barnet and Northern Ireland Secretary.
The funeral is at West London Crematorium, Kensal Green, 1 Aug.

Welby/Bates engagement
The engagement has been announced between Peter Welby (b 1988), son of the Most Rev & Rt Hon Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury (b 6 Jan 1956), by his wife the former Caroline E. Eaton (b 1957), and Miss Jen Bates.
Welby has a distinguished lineage which includes kinship with Marshal of the RAF Charles Portal, 1st Viscount Portal of Hungerford, who was chief of the Air Staff though most of the Second World War, and he counts the Stuart kings among his ancestors.
Welby is 12 generations in descent from the Merrie Monarch King Charles II and his French mistress Louise Renee de Penancoet de Keroualle, via their son Charles Lennox, who was created Duke of Richmond.

The 7th Marquess of Anglesey 1922-2013
_.The 7th Marquess of Anglesey, of Plas-Newydd, Llanfairpwll, Anglesey, Gwynedd, died 13 July, 2013, aged 90. He served as Lord Lieutenant of Gwynedd from 1983 to 1989.
George Charles Henry Victor Paget was born 8 Oct, 1922, son of the 6th Marquess (1885-1947), by his wife the former Lady Victoria Manners (d 3 Nov, 1946), daughter of the 8th Duke of Rutland, and succeeded to the family honours on his father's death, 21 Feb 1947.
Lord Anglesey was 7th Marquess in the Peerage of the UK (cr 1814), and Earl of Uxbridge, Baron Paget, of Beaudesert, and 10th Baronet, &c.
He married 16 Oct, 1948, (Elizabeth) Shirley Vaughan Morgan, DBE, sometime chairman of the Broadcasting Complaints Commission, a kinswoman of the Duchess of Kent, daughter of Charles Langbridge Morgan, by whom he had issue, two sons and three daughters.
The elder son, Charles Alexander Vaughan Paget, syled Earl of Uxbridge, who was born 13 Nov, 1950, now succeeds to the peerages and baronetcy.
Private family cremation, followed by a private service at St Edwen's Church Llanedwen. A public Memorial Service will be held in Bangor Cathedral at a later date.

John FitzWalter Butler was born 31 July, 1951, son of the 28th peer by his wife the former Anne Maria Mallet, and succeeded his father, 19 May, 2004, as 29th feudal baron (19th Baron by Letters Patent, cr 11 Jun 1541).
He married 1975, (Diana) Caroline Williams, daughter of Sir Michael Williams, KCMG, by whom he had issue, a son, Richard Pierce Theobald, and three daughters, Genevieve, Imogen and Cleone.
He is succeeded in the title by his son, who was born 5 July, 1983.
