Graeme Elizabeth Laing 1926-2018

_.Mrs Graeme Elizabeth Laing, who died 27 April, 2018, aged 91, was a scion of the Earls of Stair, and a goddaughter of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.

She was born Graeme Elizabeth Dalrypmle-Hamilton, 29 October, 1926, daughter of Admiral Sir Frederick Hew George Dalrymple-Hamilton of Bargany, KCB (1890-1974), a godson of King George V, by his wife the former Gwendolen Peek (1890-1974), scion of the Peek baronets.

She had an elder sister, Christian, born in 1919, and a brother, North Edward Frederick, born in 1922, and for whom the then Prince of Wales (later Edward VIII stood sponsor). An aunt, Victoria Alexandra Dalrymple-Hamilton, was a goddaughter of both Queen Victoria and Queen Alexandra.

She married 8 June, 1948, Alexander Grant Laing, MC (1924-88), son of Hector Stanley Laing, by his wife Margaret Norris Grant, daughter of Sir Alexander Grant, 1st Baronet. There were 2 sons and 2 daughters of the marriage.

The funeral takes place at Edinkillie Church, Friday 18th May, 2018.

Baron Martin of Springburn 1945-2018

_. The Lord Martin of Springburn, a life baron, and former Speaker of the House of Commons, died 29 April, 2018. He was 72.

Glasgow-born Michael Martin, born 3 July, 1945, was Labour MP for Glasgow Springburn 1979-2005, and then for Glasgow North East until 2009. He served as Speaker of the House of Commons from 2000, and resigned in 2009 over the expenses scandal.

Hon Kirstin Elizabeth Welton 1939-2018

_. The Hon Kirstin Welton, who died 27 April, 2018, aged 78, was a scion of the Viscounts Ullswater.

Kirstin Elizabeth Lowther was born 8 June, 1939, the only daughter of John Arthur Lowther, MVO (1910-42), Secretary to HRH The Duke of Kent, who died with the King's younger brother in the same flying accident over Iceland in August, 1942.

Her mother, who died in 1945, was the former Priscilla Lambert.

In 1949 her brother, Nicholas, succeeded as 2nd Viscount Ullswater on the death of their great-grandfather, the 1st Viscount, who, as James Lowther, had been a Speaker of the House of Commons. Two years later, in 1951, she was raised to the rank of a Viscount's daughter.

She married firstly, 6 Jan, 1966, Capt Caledon Alexander, scion of an Irish landed family; married 2ndly, 1976, Antony Edward Ord Welton. She leaves a son and a daughter from the first marriage.

The funeral takes place at St Bartholemew's Church, Aldsworth, Gloucestershire, Monday 14 May, 2018.

Sir Reginald Barnewall, 13th Baronet 1924-2018

_. Sir Reginald Barnewall, 13th Baronet, who died 27 April, 2018, aged 93, was an Australian woolgrower and cattle breeder, based in Queensland, Australia.

Reginald Robert Barnewall was born 1 October, 1924, son of Sir Reginald Barnewall, 12th Baronet (1888-1963), by his wife the former Jessie Ellen Fry, daughter of John Fry.

He succeeded his father in 1963, as the 13th holder of the baronetcy created by James I in 1622.

He married firstly, 8 June, 1946, Elsie Muriel Matthews-Frederick (who died in Jan 1962), daughter of Thomas Matthews-Frederick, of Brisbane, Australia; married secondly, July, 1962, Maureen Ellen Daly, daughter of William Daly, of South Caulfield, Victoria, Australia. From the first marriage he had a son, who died in infancy, and three daughters, and from the second marriage, he had a son, Peter Joseph, born 26 October, 1963, who now inherits the baronetcy.

Vicomtesse de Gastines 1931-2018

The Vicomtesse de Gastines, who died at  OrlĂ©ans, 26 April, 2018, aged 86, was a scion of the Stirling family, of Garden, landed gentry.

She was born Lilias Stirling, 21 August, 1931, daughter of Col Archibald Stirling of Garden, OBE (1885-1947),  sometime head of the Scots gentry family Stirling of Garden, and his wife the former (Amelia) Marjory Lily Maclaren (1902-2002),  daughter of Maj William Stewart, 13th of Ardvorlich, Perthshire (1859-1918), and married 1960, Benoit Marie Martin Edouard de Mace, Vicomte de Gastines, of Chateau de Vasse, Rousse-Vasse, Sarthe, France, by whom she had a son,  and two daughters.

Flora Mary Elizabeth Vane-Tempest (born 2018)

_. Charlotte Jane Vane-Tempest (nee Oddie), wife of James Alexander Stewart Vane-Tempest (born 1981), scion of the Marquesses of Londonderry, gave birth to a daughter, Flora Mary Elizabeth, 20 April, 2018, a sister for George (born 2012) and Harry (born 2014).

Charlotte is a daughter of Simon G. Oddie, of The Manor House, Little Milton, co Oxford, by his wife the former Sarah L.E. North, and James Vane-Tempest is a son of Charles Stewart Martin St George Vane-Tempest (born 1950), by his second wife the former Jillian Barbara Bulow (born 1949).

_. Ava, Lady Pelly, who died 17 April, 2018, aged 93, was the widow of Sir John Pelly, 6th Baronet (1918-93).

She was the former Ava Barbara Ann Dunn, daughter of Brigadier Keith Frederick William Dunn, CBE (1891-1985) scion of that landed family, formerly of Titcomb Manor and Wallingtone, by his first wife the former Ava Kays (1891-1938); married (and his first wife) 1945 (div 1950), Sir John Kay, 6th Bt. She remarried him as his third wife in 1990, having married 2ndly, 1951 (div 1964) Maj David Michael de Lerisson Cazenove (1921-88), scion of that landed family.

Rear-Admiral Sir Peter Anson, 7th Baronet, CB 1924-2018

_. Rear-Admiral Sir Peter Anson, 7th Baronet, CB, died 17 April, 2018. He was 93.

He was born 31 July, 1924, son of Sir Edward Anson, 6th Baronet (1902-1951), by his wife the former Frances Alison Pollock (1903-97), scion of the Montagu-Pollock baronets; succeeded to the baronetcy (cr 1831) upon his father's death, 26 June, 1951; married 16 April, 1955, Elizabeth Audrey (b 1931), daughter of Rear-Admiral Sir (Charles) Philip Clarke, KBE, CB, DSO (1898-1966), by his wife the former Audrey Doreen White (1902-76); and had issue, 2 sons and two daughters. The elder son, Philip Roland Anson, born 4 Oct, 1957, succeeds to the baronetcy.

Sir Roddy Llewellyn is the one-time love of HRH The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon.

The Countess of Wilton 1943-2018

.The Countess of Wilton, who died 12 April, 2018, at Melbourne, Australia, was the third wife of the 8th Earl of Wilton.

She was the former Suzanne Jean Suckling, daughter of Graham Suckling, of Christchurch, New Zealand, and married 1974, as his third wife, Francis Egerton Grosvenor, 8th Earl of Wilton (created 1801). Her husband, also Viscount Grey de Wilton and Baron Ebury, is heir presumptive to the Duke of Westminster's marquisate.

Lady Wilton was predeceased by a daughter, Lady Georgina Grosvenor.

Oliver James Anthony Ennever (born 2018)

__. Olivia Rose Ennever (nee Wake-Walker, born 1984), wife of Alistair James F. Ennever (b 1984), and scion of the Wake-Walker baronets, gave birth to a son, Oliver James Anthony, 9 April, 2018.

Alistair Ennever is a son of Mr (Anthony) Michael Ennever, of Shaldon, Hampshire, by his wife the former Kirsty F J Nicholson.

Olivia Ennever is a second cousin of the Duke of Cambridge & Prince Harry, daughter of Richard Anthony Wake-Walker (born 1951), of Wimbledon, by his wife the former Sharon Pamela Little (b 1952).
The bride is descended from the 7th Earl Spencer, via her grandmother, Lady Anne Spencer, sister of the 8th Earl Spencer, &c.

Lord Ralph Kerr is the heir pres to his elder brother, the 13th Marquis of Lothian.

Elizabeth, Countess Temple of Stowe (1928-2018)

__. Elizabeth Countess Temple of Stowe, who died 4 April, 2018, aged 89, was the second wife, and widow, of Walter Grenville Algernon Temple-Gore-Langton, 8th Earl Temple of Stowe (1924-2013).

She was born Margaret Elizabeth Graham Scarth, 17 Nov, 1928, daughter of Colonel Henry William Scarth of Breckness, of Shetland, and married the then Mr Walter Temple-Gore-Langton, as his second wife, 1 June, 1968.

Her husband succeeded a cousin in the earldom (created in 1822), 28 Aug, 1988, and died 17 Sept, 2013, when he was succeeded by a son of his first marriage.

A service of Thanksgiving takes place at St Mary's Church, Easton, near Winchester, 23 Apr, 2018.
