Hon Gerard Eyre Wriothesley Noel 1926-2016
_. The Hon Gerard Eyre Wriothesley Noel, who died 27 July, 2016, aged 89, was a scion of the Earls of Gainsborough (Earl, UK cr 1841), & a former editor of the Catholic Herald.
He was born 20 Nov 1926, the second son of the 4th Earl of Gainsborough, OBE (1884-1927), by his wife the former Alice Mary Eyre (d 1970); married 1958, Adele Julia Patricia Were, by whom he had 2 sons and one daughter.
Noel was editor of the Catholic Herald 1971-76 & 1982-84.

_. The engagement has been announced between James Spencer Matthews (b 1975), son of David H. Matthews (b 1944), by his wife the former Jane S. Parker, & Philippa Charlotte (Pippa) Middleton (b 6 September,1983), second daughter of Mr Michael Middleton (b 23 June 1949) by his wife the former Carole Elizabeth Goldsmith (b 31 January, 1955).
The bride-to-be is the sister of HRH The Duchess of Cambridge.

10th Earl of St Germans 1941-2016
The 10th Earl of St Germans, Cornish landowner, of Port Eliot, St Germans, Cornwall, has died aged 75.
Peregrine Nicholas Eliot was born 2 January, 1941, son of the 9th Earl (1914-1988), by his first wife, the former Helen Mary Villiers, scion of the Earls of Clarendon, and succeeded to the family honours on his father's demise, 11 March, 1988.
Lord St Germans was thrice married; firstly, 9 Oct 1964 (div 1989), to the Hon Jacquetta Jean Frederica Lampson, 1st dau of the 1st Baron Killearn; married 2ndly, 20 Apr 1991 (div 1996), Elizabeth Mary Williams; married 3rdly, 2 Sept, 2005, Miss Catherine Wilson.
The Earl of St Germans was the father of three sons from his first marriage, Jago, styled Lord Eliot (b 1966 d 2006), and the Hon Louis Eliot (b 1968), and the Hon Francis Eliot (b 1971).
The earldom, created in 1815, and the Barony of Eliot, created in 1784, now pass to his Lordship's grandson, Albert Clarence Eliot, styled Lord Eliot, who was born 4 Nov, 2004, who now becomes the youngest hereditary peer.

The marriage took place 16 July, 2016, between Henry Miles Fitzalan Howard, styled Earl of Arundel & Surrey [born 3 Dec, 1987], eldest son and heir of the 18th Duke of Norfolk [b 1956], of Arundel Castle, Sussex, Earl Marshal & Premier Duke in the Peerage of England, by his wife the former Georgina Gore [scion of the Earls Temple of Stowe], & Cecilia M. E. Colacicchi (b 1988), eldest daughter of William Colacicchi (b 1954), of Leicestershire, by his wife the former Clare Elizabeth Vivienne Clutterbuck (b 1958), a Somers-Cocks descendant (see Baron Somers, &c).

The royal ancestry of the Rt Hon Amber Rudd, MP - Home Secretary
_Amber Rudd, the Conservative MP and newly appointed Home Secretary has a colourful royal ancestry.
The Home Secretary is eight generations in descent from the Merrie Monarch King Charles II and his mistress Barbara Palmer, Duchess of Cleveland.
She descends from King Charles's illegitimate daughter Lady Anne Fitzroy who was born in 1661. Lady Anne married Thomas Lennard, 15th Baron Dacre, and 1st Earl of Sussex. Their daughter Anne, was Baroness Dacre in her own right, and mother of Thomas Barrett-Lennard, 17th Baron Dacre. The 17th peer was father of Sir Thomas Barrett-Lennard, 1st Baronet. His grandson, another Thomas, was 2nd baronet. Sir Thomas, the second baronet, was the father of Emma Isolda Barrett-Lennard (later Fitzgerald). Emma was mother of lawyer, Maurice Pembroke Fitzgerald, QC, whose daughter, Ethne is the wife of stockbroker Tony Rudd, Amber's father.
The newly appointed Home Secretary is a 9th cousin of Queen Elizabeth II.

2nd Baron Harding of Petherton (d 2016)
From the Telegraph of 9 July 2016: HARDING John, 2nd Baron Harding of Petherton died on 6th of June 2016.
Devoted husband to the late Harriet Harding, loving and much loved father of Dido, William, and David, and adored grandfather to Angus, Mungo, Emma, Lexie, and Becca. A funeral will be held at the Church of St. James the Great in Winscombe, Somerset at 2pm on Friday 15th July. No flowers please but any donations if desired to the King’s Royal Hussars Regimental (Welfare) Trust.
Warman/Joicey-Cecil engagement

Warman, of London, & Mrs Mary Anne Guthrie-Warman (nee Mary Anne Guthrie), of Vancouver, Canada, & Susanna Maud Joicey-Cecil (b 25 March, 1981), a scion of the Marquesses of Exeter, second daughter of James David Edward Joicey-Cecil (b 24 Sept, 1946), of Milton Abbas, Dorset, by his wife the former Jane Susanna Brydon Adeley.
Susanna Joicey-Cecil is a kinswoman of Her Majesty the Queen. Her grandfather, Edward Wilfred George Joicey-Cecil, married 1945, Rosemary Luisa Bowes Lyon (1915-89), a first cousin of Queen Elizabeth II, daughter of Capt the Hon Fergus Bowes Lyon (1889-1915), a brother of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.

__. The 2nd Baron Kenswood died 2 July, 2016. He was 86.
John Michael Howard Whitfield was born 6 April, 1930, son of the 1st Baron Kenswood (1887-1963), by his first wife the former Sophie Madeline Howard; succeeded his father in the peerage, 21 April, 1963; married 16 June, 1951, Deirdre Anna Louise, dau of Colin Malcolm Methven, by whom he had issue, four sons and a daughter.
Lord Kenswood is succeeded in the peerage (created in 1951) by his eldest son, the Hon Michael Christopher Whitfield, who was born 3 July, 1955.

The 13th Earl of Haddington 1941-2016
_. The 13th Earl of Haddington (Peerage of Scotland, cr 1627), died 5 July, 2016. He was 74.
John George Baillie-Hamilton was born 21 Dec, 1941, son of the 12th Earl of Haddington, KT (1894-1986) by his wife the former Sarah Cook (d 1995), and succeeded to the family honours on his father's demise, 17 Apr, 1986.
He married twice, firstly, 1 Dec, 1975 (div 1981), Prudence Elizabeth Hayles; married 2ndly, 2 Dec, 1984, Jane Heyworth (a descendant of the extinct Barons Tweedmouth). He leaves a widow, and a son and two daughters from the second marriage, George Edmund Baldred, styled Lord Binning, Lady Susan Baillie-Hamilton, and Lady Isobel Baillie-Hamilton.
The son, who was born 27 Sept, 1985, inherirs the earldom and the Lordship of Binning and the Lordship of Byres & Binning.
The Earl's funeral takes place at Galashiels Catholic Church of Our Lady & St Andrew, Saturday 23 July, 2016.

Lady Elizabeth Mary Lambton (1927-2016)
_. The Lady Elizabeth Lambton, who died 28 June, 2016, aged 89, was a scion of the Marquesses of Lansdowne.
She was born Lady Elizabeth Mary Petty-Fitzmaurice, 16 March, 1927, second daughter of the 6th Marquess of Lansdowne, DSO, MVO (1872-1936), by his wife the former Elizabeth Caroline Hope (who married 2ndly, 1940, Lord Colum Crichton-Stuart, scion of the Marquesses of Bute, and d 1964).
She was a sister of the 7th Marquess of Lansdowne (1917-44), & a cousin of the 8th Marquess (1912-99).
Lady Elizabeth married 27 June, 1950, Maj Charles William Lambton (1921-2005), scion of the Earls of Durham, & had issue.
Funeral at Christ Church, Derry Hill, London SN11, Monday 11 July, 2016.
