The Viscount Massereene & Ferrard died 13 November, 2024, aged 84.
He was the 14th Viscount Massereene, in the Peerage of Ireland (created by Charles II in 1660), and the 7th Viscount Ferrard (also in the Peerage of Ireland, cr 1797). He was also the 14th Baron Loughneagh (Peerage of Ireland, 1660), and 7th Baron Oriel (Peerage of Ireland, cr 1790), and 7th Baron Oriel (in the Peerage of the UK, cr 1821).
John David Clotworthy Whyte-Melville Foster Skeffington was born 3 June, 1940, son of the 13th Viscount Massereene & (6th) Ferrard, DL (1914-1992), by his wife the former Annabelle Kathleen Lewis (who died 2009).
He succeeded to the peerages on his father's death, 27 December, 1992. The peer was a landowner and stockbroker. He served in the Grenadier Guards 1958-61, the Stock Exchange 1961-64, in the motor trade 1964-70, and held various directorships. He gave his recreations (in Who's Who) as vintage cars, stalking and shooting.
He married 21 November, 1970, (Anne) Denise Rowlandson, daughter of Norman Rowlandson, of Kingston Hill, Surrey, by whom he had issue, two sons, Charles & Henry, and a daughter, Harriette.
The elder son, the Hon Charles Clotworthy Whyte-Melville Skeffington (born 7 February, 1973), succeeds to the family honours.
