Willcocks/Beels marriage

_. The marriage took place 10 August, 2018, at Henley-on-Thames, between Lieutenant-General Sir Michael Willcocks, KCB (b 27 July, 1944), and Ms Penelope Jane Beels (née Aedy).

Sir Michael was Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, Serjeant-at-Arms, House of Lords and Secretary to the Lord Great Chamberlain, 2001-2009.

It is Sir Michael's second marriage. In 1966 he wed Jean Paton Weir, by whom he has three children.

Eloise Martha Cornwall-Legh (born 2018)

_.Alison Clare Cornwall-Legh (nee Tennant), wife of the Hon George Henry Cornwall-Legh (born 1982), scion of the Barons Grey of Codnor, gave birth to a daughter, Eloise Martha, 1 August, 2018, a sister for Isabella Penelope, who was born 17 March, 2016.

The Hon George Cornwall-Legh is the youngest son of the 6th Baron Grey of Codnor (born 1936), by his wife the former Joanna Storm Cayley (born 1947), scion of the Cayley baronets.

Alison Cornwall-Legh is a daughter of Rodney Tennant, of Middleham, North Yorkshire.

Sir Digby Mackworth, 10th Baronet 1945-2018

_. Sir Digby Mackworth, 10th Baronet, died 17 July, 2018. He was 72.

Digby John Mackworth was born 2 November, 1945, the only child of Sir David Mackworth, 9th Baronet (1912-98), by his wife the former Mary Alice Grylls (died 1993).

He was educated at Wellington, and served as a Lieutenant in the Australian Army Aviation Corps, helicopter pilot; Reconnaissance Flt, Australian Task Force, Vietnam; Pilot, Bristow Helicopters, Trinidad & Iran, 1972-77; British Airways Helicopters, Shetland, Aberdeen, China, India, 1977-89; British Airways Heathrow Airport, 1989-2000; later Pilot, EasyJet from 2000, &c.

He married in 1971, Antoinette Francesca McKenna, by whom he had one daughter, Octavia, and succeeded to the baronetcy, created in 1776, upon his father's demise, 1998.

The baronetcy now passes to his kinsman, Alan Keith Mackworth, born in 1945, resident in Canada.

Peter Ewald Scarisbrick (d 2018)

__. Peter Ewald Scarisbrick, who died 27 July, 2018, aged 95, was descended from the Bertie Earls of Abingdon. He was husband of Diana and father of Sophie.

He was a son of Charles Ewald Scarisbrick (1887-1962), by his wife the former Evelyn Dorothy Aird (d 1957).

His daughter Sophie married 1982, the Hon John Peter Robin Hood Hastings-Bass (born 5 June, 1954), younger brother of the 17th Earl of Huntingdon.

The funeral takes place at the Church of Our Lady of Hal, Camden Town, 16 August, 2018.

Johnny Hulbert-Powell is a grandson paternally of Evelyn Charles Lacy Hulbert-Powell (1914-85), by his wife the former Hon Philippa Catherine St Aubyn (born 19 June, 1922), scion of the Barons St Levan, second daughter of the 3rd Baron St Levan, of St Michael's Mount, Marazion, Cornwall, by his wife the former Hon Clementina Gwendolen Catharine Nicolson, scion of the Barons Carnock.

Johnny's maternal grandfather was Michael Walter Bonn (1927-97), descended from the Earls of Albemarle, by his wife the former Elizabeth Mary Buxton (1926-2017), scion of the Buxton baronets.

Caspar Jopling is a grandson of the life peer Baron Jopling, PC (b 1930), who, as Michael Jopling, was Conservative MP for Westmorland 1964-83, and for Westmorland and Lonsdale, 1983-97, and was Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries & Food, 1983-87. Lady Jopling was the former Gail Dickinson, daughter of Ernest Dickinson, of Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

Sir Alexander Fergusson 1949-2018

_. Sir Alex Fergusson, who died 31 July, 2018, aged 69, was the former presiding officer of the Scottish parliament, the MSP for Scotland South 1999-2003, and for Galloway and West Dumfries, 2003-16, who resigned in 2016 after 17 years service, and was knighted in that year.

He was a scion of the Fergusson baronets of Kilkerran. He was born Alexander Charles Onslow Fergusson 8 April, 1949, and educated at Eton, the elder son of the Rev Simon Charles David Fergusson by his wife the former Auriole Kathleen Hughes-Onslow, descended from the Earls of Onslow. and was a grandson paternally of Sir Charles Fergusson, 7th Baronet GCB, GCMG, DSO, MVO (1865-1951), by his wife the former Lady Alice Mary Boyle (d 1958), daughter of the 7th Earl of Glasgow.

He married in 1974, Jane Merryn Barthold, by whom he had three sons.

Another kinsman, John Cam Hobhouse, created Baron Broughton, was a distinguished politician and great friend of the poet Lord Byron.

Christopher Henry Gibbs 1938-2018

_. Christopher Gibbs, who has  died aged 79, was a scion of the Barons Aldenham & Hunsdon, an antiques dealer, interior designer, bibliophile, and aesthete, & friend of Sir Mick Jagger, who pioneered a style of interior decoration often described as 'distressed bohemian'---------

He was born 29 July, 1938, the fifth son of the Hon Sir Geoffrey Cokayne Gibbs, KCMG (1901-75), by his wife the former Helen Margaret Leslie, and was a grandson of Herbert Cokayne Gibbs, 1st Baron Hunsdon (1854-1935).

It was Herbert Gibbs who, in 1908, acquired the manor of Hunsdon. This manor with the title of Baron Hunsdon was granted by Queen Elizabeth I to her first cousin, Henry Carey, and ancestor of Gibbs, who, in 1923, was raised to the peerage.
