_. Peter John Pitman, who died 17 January, 2018, aged 89, was a scion of that landed family.
He was a son of Sir Isaac James Pitman (1901-85) by his wife the former Hon Margaret Beaufort Lawson Johnston (1907-83), daughter of the 1st Baron Luke; married 1958, Jennifer J Holmes, by whom he had issue.
