The 7th Marquess of Anglesey 1922-2013

_.The 7th Marquess of Anglesey, of Plas-Newydd, Llanfairpwll, Anglesey, Gwynedd, died 13 July, 2013, aged 90. He served as Lord Lieutenant of Gwynedd from 1983 to 1989. George Charles Henry Victor Paget was born 8 Oct, 1922, son of the 6th Marquess (1885-1947), by his wife the former Lady Victoria Manners (d 3 Nov, 1946), daughter of the 8th Duke of Rutland, and succeeded to the family honours on his father's death, 21 Feb 1947. Lord Anglesey was 7th Marquess in the Peerage of the UK (cr 1814), and Earl of Uxbridge, Baron Paget, of Beaudesert, and 10th Baronet, &c. He married 16 Oct, 1948, (Elizabeth) Shirley Vaughan Morgan, DBE, sometime chairman of the Broadcasting Complaints Commission, a kinswoman of the Duchess of Kent, daughter of Charles Langbridge Morgan, by whom he had issue, two sons and three daughters. The elder son, Charles Alexander Vaughan Paget, syled Earl of Uxbridge, who was born 13 Nov, 1950, now succeeds to the peerages and baronetcy. Private family cremation, followed by a private service at St Edwen's Church Llanedwen. A public Memorial Service will be held in Bangor Cathedral at a later date. -=-
