2nd Baron Strathcarron

The 2nd Baron Strathcarron, partner, Strathcarron & Co; Director, Kirchhoff (London) Ltd; Seabourne World Express Group, plc; Kent Internatinal Aiprort plc, died suddenly, 31 August, 2006. He was aged 82. David William Anthony Blyth Macpherson was born 23 January, 1924, son of the 1st Baron by his wife Jill (died 1956), daughter of Sir George Rhodes, 1st Baronet, and was educated at Eton and Jesus College, Cambridge. Career: -> served in the RAFVR during WW2; Motoring Correspondent of The Field, 1954-2002; Member of the British Parliamentary Delegation to Austria, 1964; President, Institute of Freight Forwarders, 1974-75; President, Guild of Motoring Writers from 1971; President, Guild of Experienced Motorists, 1980-86; President, National Breakdown Recovery Club, 1982-96; Pres, Driving Instructors' Association, 1982-2002; President, Vehicle Builders' and Repairers' Association from 1983: &c. He published "Motoring for Pleasure" (1963). He succeeded to the peerage (created in 1936) onthe death of his father, 1937. He married firstly, 1947, Valerie Cole (marriage annulled on his petition, 1947), secondly, 1948, Mrs Diana Hawtrey Curle (died 1973), daughter of Commander R.H. Deane, by whom he had 2 sons; thirdly, 1974, Mrs Eve Samuel, who died in 1999; fourthly, 1999, Diana, widow of Hugo Nicholson. The peerage devolves upon his elder son, the Ho Ian David Patrick Macpherson, born 31 March, 1949. Funeral Service at Mortlake Crematorium on Friday 8 September 2006 .
