Brigadier Toby St George Caulfeild

Brigadier Toby St George Caulfeild, CBE, who died 27 September, 2005, aged 86, was scion of the Viscounts Charlemont (Ireland 1665). He was b. 1919, son of Colonel St George Frederick Gordon Caulfeild, RM (1881-1973), by his wife Eila Rosslyn John (d. 1973), and was educated at Wellington. Career:--> late the Royal Artillery; Instructor, Staff College, 1955-57; and Officer Commanding, 7th Parachute Regiment, RHA 1960-62; UK National Military Representative, SHAPE 1971-74; served in France 1939-40, South East Asia 1942-45, Korea 1952, Malaya 1958-59; received the MBE (Military) 1952; advanced to CBE (Mil) 1974. He married firstly in 1942 (div 1951) Mary, daughter of Sir William Lindsay Murphy, KCMG; married 2ndly, 1959, Agnes Sheila, daughter of Edward Buckmaster Robinson. He is survived by issue from his first marriage, a son, Toby (b. 1943), and a daughter, Grania Mary (b. 1947), wife since 1970 of the life peer Baron Cavendish of Furness, scion of the Dukes of Devonshire.
