6th Marquis of Headfort

The Marquis of Headfort, sixth holder of the peerage (created in 1800), who was also a Baronet (1704), Baron Headfort (1760), Viscount Headfort (1762), Earl of Bective (1766), Baron Kenlis (UK 1831), died at Kenlis House, Lubang Island, Philippines, 21 October, 2005. He was aged 73.
Lord Headfort was a company director, sometime air pilot and Hong Kong police inspector.
Thomas Geoffrey Charles Michael Taylour was born 20 January, 1932, the only son of the 5th Marquis, by his wife Elsie Florence (who died in 1972), daughter of J. Partridge Tucker, of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, and was educated at Stowe and at Christ's College, Cambridge (MA; Certificate of Proficiency in Estate Management).
Career: -->2nd Lieutenant, Life Guards 1950; acting Pilot Officer, RAFVR 1952; Director, Bective Electrical Co. Ltd, 1953; Sales Manager and Chief Pilot, Lancashire Aircraft Co., 1959; Freeman, Guild of Air Pilots & Air Navigators, 1958; Piloted Prospector aircraft around Africa, 1960; FRICS; Member of the Irish Auctioneers and Valuers Institute Council, Royal Agricultural Society of England 1961; Inspector, Royal Hong Kong Police, 1977; received Commercial Pilot's licence, 1967.
He succeeded to the peerage on the sudden death of his father, the 5th Marquis (he was 58) from a heart attack in Monte Carlo in October, 1960.
Lord Headfort's grandfather, the 4th peer, married the celebrated Gaity Girl, Rosie Boote.
The 6th Marquis was twice married, firstly, 2 May, 1958, at St James's Church, Spanish Place, London, to a goddaughter of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, the Hon. Elizabeth Angela Veronica Rose Nall-Cain, the only daughter of Lord Brocket, of Brocket Hall, Hertfordshire. This marriage ended in divorce in 1969; he married secondly, 1972, Virginia, daughter of Mr Justice Nable, of Manila.
He is survived by his second wife and by a son and two daughters from the first marriage. The son, Thomas Michael Ronald Christopher, styled Earl of Bective, who was born 10 February, 1959, now succeeds as 7th Marquis.
The funeral has taken place in Manila.
