2nd and last Baron Belstead

The 2nd (and last) Baron Belstead, PC, who died 3 December, 2005, was a
former Leader of the House of Lords. He was aged 73.

John Julian Ganzoni was born 30 September, 1932, the only son of the 1st Baron Belstead (1882-1958), by his wife Gwendolen Gertrude Turner, and was educated at Eton and Christ Church, Oxford.
Career:-->a JP of Ipswich, and Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk from 1994; a Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Department of Education & Science, 1970-73; a Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Northern
Ireland, 1973-74; Chairman of the Governing Bodies Association from 1974; Under Secretary of State, Home Office, 1979-82; Minister of State, Foreign Office, 1982-83; Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, 1983-87; Minister of State, Department of the Environment, 1987-88; Deputy Leader of the House of Lords, 1984-88; Leader of the House of Lords and Privy Seal, 1988-90; Minister of State for Northern Ireland and Paymaster-General 1990-92; lately Chairman of the Parole Board, &c.
Lord Belstead was sworn of the Privy Council in 1981.
He never married, and the peerage (UK 1938) and baronetcy (1929) now become extinct.
